The practice of using touch as a healing method stems from customs and techniques rooted in ancient history. The Greek and Roman civilizations found that natural healing and massage could heal injuries, relieve pain, prevent and cure illnesses. In addition, it has helped reduce stress and create deep relaxation. All of which we could use now more than ever.
Athletes and philosophers began massage between 800 and 700 BC.
Athletes in ancient Greece used massages to keep their bodies in peak condition before competition. Physicians of the time used herbs and oils in combination with massage techniques and treatments to treat many illnesses and ailments.
In the fifth century BC, Hippocrates prescribed "friction" to treat physical injuries, and instructed his doctor colleagues about the benefits of rubbing to help the body heal itself. Moreover, he promoted a combination of massage, proper diet, exercise, rest, fresh air, and music to restore the body to a healthy state.
Here at Squatch, we are excited to open the therapy room for all of you in the camp. Starting this month, you can add various therapies to your regiment. From cupping, scraping, acupuncture, massage, physical therapy to body composition testing, it is all available to the Squad.
Here are the therapies available starting in June:
SPORTS MASSAGE
Mary Rossi, a licensed massage therapist, specializes in sports and deep tissue massage. Her experience as a lifelong athlete dealing with injuries has led to her focus on the body as a whole in the recovery process. Specific focus is on posture realignment, thereby correcting pain issues through soft tissue work and corrective exercises. She utilizes other tools, as well, such as cupping and scraping. Mary began her athletic experience at age 3 as a gymnast. She was a member of the USA National Gymnastics Team, winning a gold medal at the 2010 Pan American Championships. She has also been an Olympic weightlifter for several years and continues to train, coach, and compete in that area.

PHYSICAL THERAPY
We do hour long appointments - evaluations (first appointment) and follow-ups.
Evaluation is an in-depth assessment of the problem body part as well as a whole body, whole picture assessment of movement and breathing patterns, flexibility, and motor control.
We discuss what we found and empower clients with knowledge of their body and begin treatment, which includes manual therapy, dry needling, and specific exercise.
Follow-ups consist of a specifically tailored combination of manual therapy, dry needling, and exercise that targets the deficits found at evaluation.

BOD POD / BODY COMPOSTION TEST
The BOD POD is the world’s only Air Displacement Plethysmography (ADP) system using whole body densitometric principles to determine body composition (Fat and FatFree Mass) in adults and children. In comparison to other body composition assessment methods, the BOD POD’s air displacement plethysmography has eliminated the invasiveness of Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DXA) as well as the difficulties associated with underwater submersion in hydrostatic weighing. A full test requires only about 5 minutes, and provides highly accurate, safe, comfortable, and fast test results. This is why the BOD POD is considered the practical Gold Standard for body composition assessment. Book your time with Coach Clay today to get a baseline and get to work.
