It’s the middle of the summer and we are so grateful to be growing as a community of athletes, movers, and leaders. We have a very exciting month ahead of us, with new classes, events, and community workshops. There is no other community we would rather share the summer heat with than you all!
KNOW YOUR PURPOSE
“The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for.” ―Fyodor Dostoyevsky
This month’s highlighted virtue is Purpose. On the Frontier you may develop the tools needed to move forward on your mission with clarity and strength. Understanding and getting clear on your purpose or following your personal North Star, opens up a life of virtue, adventure, and intention. Even if your purpose changes day to day, we hope Squatch can be a home base for you to sharpen your tools, and propel you forward on your mission.
Jason Sabala, founder of Squatch Fitness, invites us into a series of questions for this month’s theme:
“This month's trail, or path, as we call it, is Purpose. I like to get everyone to take a step back from the “P” word and not just think “what am I on earth for.” More-so, what is something important to you that you can spend your time on right now? Because time is the most valuable asset you have…
We all have 86,400 seconds per day, so what can I work on right now? With that being said, the next step on the path is to ask yourself this three part question:
What do you love? What’s hurting that thing that you love or what’s holding it back? How can you help the thing that you love?”
We have several opportunities for you to dig deep into your Purpose, beyond your day to day strides at the gym.
Join us tomorrow for our monthly community workout on the turf, and don’t forget to snag a new “Find Your Olympus” T-Shirt!

Our 16th Fire & Ice will happen on August 19th with the theme: FLOW.
A message from the founder of Fire and Ice, Joe Lucky:
For those who don't know what Fire and Ice is, it's a unique experience that has blown the minds of nearly 500 folks. It involves the following...An elixir ceremony, breath work, primal movement, “Pathways” movement integration, ice plunges, connection, all within a community.
Oh, and yes, if you've seen the IG stories, Fire and Ice is that event where people jump into ice plunges and fire performers dazzle you with a visual representation of what's already within you.
And with the theme being FLOW we will go into what it means to be in FLOW and how you can get there on your own.

NEW CLASS ALERT
River Rudhe, our newest trainer, is now teaching Foundation Training on Thursdays at 5:30pm in the Wolf Den. Foundation Training is summed up as a representation of ideal biomechanics. It’s literally the most natural way of moving the human body. If you have a human body, you are designed to do these movements. And when you awaken this innate potential through these simple positions and sequences, untapped power and strength become your natural state. Utilizing Foundation Training will align your posture, make you resistant to injury and give you a deeper awareness in your body.
Gunner & Seth are brothers, and co-hosts of “Texish” podcast, a show about some things Texas… and some things not. We interviewed the hilarious duo and got into some deep conversation about life on and off the Frontier.
What has been your favorite aspect of being on the Frontier?
Gunner: It's really become equal parts and escape, but also a home. And I say that because I feel like a lot of people view home as a place to escape from, but this is more a place to escape to. This is like the only place in Austin where truly there is no judgment. There's definitely balls being busted, but there is no judgment about the way you work out or the way you eat or the movement you choose.
This is such a welcoming place, no matter what your endeavor is, no matter what your creed is, no matter what your personality is. And I think that's a beautiful thing. So, yeah, it's been cool to watch that grow, too…
What are some of the goals that you've conquered by being at the gym?
Seth: Steel sharpens steel. Right? Whenever we first came here, there was a bit of an intimidation because everybody working out was in really good shape. And I certainly did not feel like I was adequate to take my shirt off, whether it was at a pool or in a gym or anything like that. And so for me, coming here and being around people that are just straight savages, I was able to conquer a lot of my own self consciousness and a lot of the shame I have wrapped up in being not enough.
Gunner: It's preemptive I guess, but I am running the Leadville 100 in a couple of weeks, and I would not feel as confident as I feel to go do it if it wasn't for this community and the people here. People have been so encouraging and so supportive.
What’s one piece of advice that you would give back to the community to help it grow?
Seth: Failure isn't the end, it's the beginning. It's going to take you a million different tries. It's going to take 1,000 miles of exploration and wrong turns and dead ends before you stumble upon the thing that is your thing. But it is 100% worth all of the pain, sweat and tears when you find that thing. And you're never going to find it if you never try.
Gunner: Failure isn't fatal. Success isn't final. It is the courage to keep moving forward that counts.
