This week, as we pass into the second half of the year, I am reminded of some of the promises I made six months ago on New Year's Day. Recent studies show that the most popular resolutions made were exercising more and improving fitness (50% of participants), losing weight (48%), saving money (44%), and improving diet (39%). By the midpoint of the year, nearly 70% have failed to keep any or part of their resolutions.
If you made any commitments to yourself this year, how are you doing? Be honest. I can tell you that for me, I have some wins and some lessons. The beauty is that we still have a second half to play, and the path is in front of us.
The word "lumen" comes to us from Latin and means light. It has also been said to mean "an opening through which light can penetrate". We will use the latter definition and introduce an opening by which we can shine some light in and brighten the horizon of the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2021.
With so many people looking for meaningful connections solo, as a couple, or even as a group, it is almost inevitable that we find ourselves seeking out that relationship is probably the last possible place we would ever see it. Whether it be on Rainey St, a bar on West 6th, the rooftop pool party, or at the club, the chances we genuinely make a meaningful connection with someone who can make our lives better are very slim. It happens, just not as likely as we'd like.
It is with that in mind that Squatch Squad would like to introduce our LUMEN event series. Our goal is to create an opening and opportunity for some light to shine and ignite your torch to burn brighter and hotter. These events are being held on Friday nights to encourage an alternative gathering with like-minded folks to avoid the same old path we've been on before.
